Job description:
At Geis Utility Trailer, we are looking for a Mobile Trailer Mechanic. Do you have a knack for diagnosing and repairing trailer problems? Are you a mechanic comfortable working both in a shop environment and at customer locations? If so, we're looking for a skilled Mobile Trailer Technician to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of trailers, ensuring our customers' equipment stays operational and running smoothly. You will utilize your expertise to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and complete preventative maintenance tasks, both within our shop and while visiting customer sites.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $27-$38 per hour
Location: Kansas City, KS
Shifts: Monday – Friday; 8am-5pm
Reports To: Service Manager

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to customer service requests for scheduled trailer repairs and maintenance.
  • Travel to customer locations with a fully equipped service vehicle.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot a wide range of trailer malfunctions, including brakes, suspension systems, electrical issues, and landing gear problems.
  • Conduct thorough repairs on trailers using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace within the service vehicle.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and explain repairs completed.
  • Document all service calls, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities with accuracy and detail.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trailer repair and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of trailer systems, including: brakes, suspension, electrical components, and landing gear.
  • Basic body repairs such as: roller or hinge replacement, corner cap replacement, panel patching or step ladder straightening.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with customers.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.
  • A commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
