Pay: $80,000-90,000
Job Overview:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing core accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of GAAP, dealership accounting experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to management.
General Ledger Management:
- Oversee general ledger functions and maintain the chart of accounts.
- Perform month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries and accruals.
- Reconcile accounts and ensure completeness of financial data.
Inventory Accounting:
- Manage inventory accounting for parts and vehicles.
- Ensure accurate costing and valuation.
Fixed Assets Management:
- Maintain fixed asset records and reconcile periodically.
- Oversee capitalization, depreciation, and disposal processes.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits with documentation and schedules.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets.
Tax & Regulatory Filings:
- Prepare and file sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory reports.
- Assist with income tax compliance and reporting.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff.
- Assist in training and development.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team culture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- 5–7 years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a senior role.
- Automotive or truck dealership experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Occasional lifting of office materials up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to focus on complex financial data for extended periods.
